Eastern Loop, July 2018
Best part of a 4-month trip in Southeast Asia!!
Did the 3 days, 3 night motorbike loop around Ha Giang and it was insane! The views are incredible and the tour itself was brilliant. Our tour guide, Thinh, knew a lot about the area, was good at keeping the first-time drivers at a good, comfortable speed—which was still fun—and was very good fun to chat to at dinner!
Every meal was included and was delicious and local Vietnamese food. The hotel, hostel and lodge we stayed in were all spotless and very comfortable, I honestly have no complaints! Also the time spent at the waterfall on the last day was so much fun! So happy I decided to do this tour :)
Tonkin Adventure, 2017
When visiting Hanoi with a friend recently I contacted Cuong Vu - Positive Tours for a full days motorbike tour of the city. We were not disappointed. This was a tour with a difference. We selected where we wanted to go, Cuong fine tuned it and added a few off beat places of interest. From an early breakfast on the street with locals to a whiskey sampling evening meal it was a perfect day without time restrains. In fact it was the high point of our visit to Hanoi.
If you want to get a real feel for Hanoi contacting Cuong is a must. Thank you Cuong and Laura for giving us an insight into the real Hanoi...

Hands down, one of the best tours I have taken across 40+ countries. Cuong is PHENOMENAL.
Both kind and knowledgable, his insight on Vietnamese history and culture will provide you with a unique perspective on the country. He dynamically tweaked our itinerary based on our interests / prior Hanoi exposure. Highly recommend!!
I had heard that the Eastern Loop in Ha Giang is particularly beautiful and considered my options for how to best experience it. After extensive deliberating, I chose to go with a guided tour.

Many of the minorities in Ha Giang never had a self portrait, so we brought our polaroid camera and Megan and Betty bought some film to take photos for the people they met in exchange for the photos they take of them.
I decided to visit the northern part of Vietnam. Mind you I was ill prepared because I did not pack warm clothes. Nevertheless, this trip holds near and dear to my heart...

There’s something about riding a motorbike. You’re completely open to the world, at the mercy of the wind smacking your face, and at the will of the road under you. You feel everything that moves past you.
Now imagine this on winding roads, surrounded by pointy green triangles of mountains, sitting on wide lush terraces. You breathe in the mountains and breathe out adrenaline. This is Ha Giang...
